Areas of Service - Employment Discrimination
SLC’s primary focus of employment discrimination has been in the area of disability discrimination. However, SLC will represent others who have been subject to discrimination in the work place if the case represents a broader public interest.
Cordero v. City of Kissimmee, Case No. 6:08-cv-2118 (M.D. Fla., J. Conway). Co-Counsel: David Chonin.
After challenging an English-only policy in the workplace, Brandon Cordero, an employee with the City of Kissimmee, received poor work evaluations and was fired. Cordero filed a formal charge with the EEOC. He received a letter of determination from the EEOC finding reasonable cause to believe that the City discriminated against him in violation of Title VII and a right to sue letter was issued. A mediated settlement agreement was reached and provided damages for Cordero.
