SLC’s Immigrant Rights Project is a new statewide project to protect and defend the civil and human rights of immigrants.  SLC will collaborate with other legal services organizations and immigrant rights’ advocates to investigate unlawful enforcement and detention practices used by local governments to identify undocumented immigrants.  These practices lead to racial profiling, the unlawful detention of both undocumented immigrants and people lawfully present in the United States, and the involvement of local law enforcement agencies in enforcing federal immigration laws.  SLC will use community education and outreach, policy advocacy, and systemic litigation to challenge these civil and human rights violations that impact large groups of immigrants.
