VOLUNTEERING WITH SLC

volunteer opportunities

  • Pro bono attorneys

Utilizing a hybrid-model, the Pro Bono Program has a focused eye towards recruiting pro bono co-counsel to work with SLC on high-impact, systems-changing litigation while also recruiting volunteers for traditional individual representation matters. Additional volunteer opportunities include limited scope representation, brief counsel/advice, advocacy, legal research, and limited scope impact litigation assistance.

Attorneys interested in working with SLC should contact us at legalsupport@southernlegal.org or 352-271-8890.

  • Law Students

Law Students conduct legal research and factual investigation; prepare legal memoranda; draft and review public records requests and responses; assist in all aspects of discovery such as document analysis, organization and indexing depositions; and assist in preparation of legal documents and pleadings. Since most of the work concerns federal court litigation, there is substantial legal research and writing involved. Excellent research, oral and written communication skills required with demonstrated interest in law, civil rights, and/or public policy. Second or third year students are preferred.
